Connie's story of how she began involved in Sunrise! Through all the hats I have worn in my life I am incredibly grateful for what I have. And as a result, I have always found paying it forward and giving back to be critically important. And my favorite charity that I feel a deep, personal connection to is Sunrise Association. Keep reading to learn why. Back in 2018, I was introduced to Sunrise by a dear friend of mine. His son was diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer and his family had become closely tied to Sunrise Association, a nonprofit whose mission is to deliver the joys of childhood through free summer camp and in-hospital programs for children with cancer and their siblings. I was immediately drawn to their mission and their goal, to care for each child in need. Pediatric cancer affects nearly 16,000 children annually. Approximately 1 in 285 children will be diagnosed with cancer before their 20th birthday, which, to me, is a startling high, sad number. I immediately fell in love with what Sunrise offers children - an escape from the sh&!ty hand life has dealt them and the opportunity to enjoy their childhood freely. I have made it my personal mission to promote Sunrise every chance I get. Both of my companies, ZRPD and Project Recruit, have also committed to supporting Sunrise every chance we get.
