About Us

SunriseWALKS Long Island benefits Sunrise Day Camp Long Island, the world's first full-summer day camp for children with cancer and their siblings, offered completely free of charge.

As a proud member of the Sunrise Association, our mission is to bring back the joys of childhood to children with cancer and their siblings worldwide. Sunrise accomplishes this through the creation and oversight of welcoming, inclusive summer day camps, year-round programs, and in-hospital recreational activities, all offered free of charge.

Sunrise Day Camp

Children with cancer and their siblings live in a world of NO, but at Sunrise Day Camp, it's a world of YES!

Providing memorable summers since 2006 for children ages 3 1/2 to 18 years old, Sunrise Day Camp brings the simple
pleasures of childhood back to children struggling with cancer, changing months of loneliness and isolation into summers filled with sunshine, laughter and happiness. And because Sunrise is a day camp, it does all this while allowing the children to continue their medical treatment and enjoy the comfort and safety of their own homes at night.

Year-Round Programming

Sunrise also offers Sunrise Sundays and Fun-Days which includes exciting activities and events when camp is not in session, as well as Sunrise on Wheels, a one-of-a-kind program that provides hours of Sunrise fun to children undergoing treatment in pediatric oncology units at Sunrise affiliated hospitals.

Thanks to a generous gift from the Frances Davis Fund, Sunrise has officially opened Sunrise Studios, our virtual arm of Sunrise programming. Sunrise Studios assures we will be able to offer virtual programming alongside our in-person ones, thereby expanding Sunrise's reach into areas of the country - and eventually the world - where children with cancer have no day camp options. In January 2021, Sunrise proudly launched the Sunrise Studios app, which places the magic of Sunrise into the palms of our children's hands, wherever they may be.
