What is a recurring gift?
A recurring gift, also known as an ongoing donation, is a contribution made on a regular basis, as opposed to a single, one-time donation. To set up a recurring gift, simply go to our donation page, make your donation, and select "Charge me this amount Monthly". Your selected donation amount will be automatically charged monthly creating a recurring gift.
How do I find a participant's personal fundraising page?
Click on the
home page and begin typing their first or last name in the top right corner of the page. Your options will display as you type.
How quickly can I expect an online donation to post to a participant's fundraising account?
Any donation made online should post immediately. If an online donation does not post within 5 minutes, please
contact us here.
What happens if I check the checkbox to "cover processing fees"?
If you check this checkbox, you will be charged the amount indicated next to the checkbox. This amount will also be visible to the non-profit. However, on the fundraising page, your intended, initial donation amount will be displayed.
Are donations tax-deductible?
All monetary donations are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.
Do all donors who contribute online receive a receipt?
Yes, anyone who donates online, regardless of the amount, will receive a receipt via email.
What is the Horizon Day Camp - Metro DC|VA|MD Tax ID number?
A Tax ID number identifies Horizon Day Camp - Metro DC|VA|MD as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Horizon Day Camp - Metro DC|VA|MD Tax ID number is 54-1145849.
How do I add a dedication when I make a donation?
When you make a donation online, you can designate what you want to appear as your recognition name on the participant's fundraising page. This may be your name, or it could be something such as "From the whole Wolf family" or "in memory of Aunt Cathy."
Where do I get matching gift forms?
Matching gift forms come from a donors employer.
Many matching gift forms can be accessed online. Visit our
Matching Gift Page search your Company name and click the "Go To Matching Gift Form" button.
If the button does not populate, please contact your employers Human Resources or Corporate Social Responsibility Department.
Note: When you send in a matching gift, please include the individual or team name the matching gift should be credited to.
Do matching gifts count towards my fundraising goal?
Yes, matching gifts will count towards your fundraising goal. Once the donation is received by HorizonWALKS, it will be applied to the individual or team noted on the matching gift form.
How do I get credited for matching gifts?
Matching gifts will only be credited to your fundraising page once the check has been received by HorizonWALKS. Please include the individual or team name the matching gift should be credited to on the matching gift form.
If I registered for last year's event, will my information be saved in the system?
Yes, certain personal details from your account last year will carry over to this year. They system will remember your name, email, password, address, and contact information. However, it will not remember your team information.
If you are returning registrant, please register by entering the same email address as last year. The system will recognize your account and request your previous password. If you forgot your password, click "Forgot Password?" to reset it.
What does "Goal Amount" mean?
During registration, you are asked to enter a goal amount for your personal and/or team fundraising page. This is the fundraising goal that you set for yourself and/or your team to appear on your fundraising page. This is the number that you will strive to reach during your HorizonWALKS fundraising. You are able to change your goal amount any time.
What can I do if a check is written out to me personally?
If a donation check has been written out to you personally, you may endorse the back of the check and mail it in to the following address:

Can I mail in a cash donation?
It is not a good idea to send a cash donation in the mail. You may drop off the cash at the Sunrise Association headquarters or you can deposit the cash and send a personal check from your account.

A donor is requesting a Tax ID number; what is that and how can I get it?
A Tax ID number identifies Horizon Day Camp - Metro DC|VA|MD as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Many donors will request this number to validate their donation as tax-deductible. Horizon Day Camp's Tax ID number is 54-1145849.
Not all of my donors are showing up on my fundraising page. Why?
As your donors make a contribution, they have the option of whether or not they want to appear on your fundraising page.
Where can I find a list of the people who have donated to me?
Log in to your Fundraiser Dashboard and click the "REPORTS" tab. You will then find a list of all of your donors.
How can I send a thank you email to my donors?
To easily send thank-you emails to donors, follow these steps:
- Log in to your Fundraiser Dashboard by clicking the "LOGIN" button in the top right corner.
- Once logged in, click the "Reports" tab.
- Scroll down to locate the donor/donation you'd like to thank, and click email logo under the "Action" column. (Note: if the donor didn't submit their email address, this option is unavailable.)
- Type the message in the pop-up window, and click "Send Email"
Why am I receiving emails telling me that I've received a donation?
You are receiving these emails because we would like to keep you updated on your fundraising efforts. If you wish to stop receiving these updates, please login to your Fundraiser Dashboard, click the circle icon in the top right corner, then click "Profile". Click the notifications tab and un-check HorizonWALKS Metro DC.
What is a Fundraising Page URL?
There are two Fundraising Page URLS that you can create – a URL for your personal fundraising page and a URL for your team fundraising page (if you are a team captain). Both URL's are a shortened link to your HorizonWALKS fundraising page(s) that you can send to friends and family in emails.
A Personal Fundraising Page URL could include your name and would look like this: www.sunrise-walks.org/horizonwalks-metrodc/melissa
A Team Fundraising Page URL could include your team name and would look like this: www.sunrise-walks.org/horizonwalks-metrodc/teamsunshine
Can a donor add a dedication message that appears in my fundraising page?
When a donor makes a donation online, they can enter a custom message to appear on your fundraising page. This may be the donor's name, or it could be something like "From the whole Wolf family" or "In Memory of Aunt Cathy".
