“Sunrise Day Camp…It’s the best camp”. As some of you know, our team captain Laurie has spent the last eight summers working at Sunrise Day Camp, a camp for children with cancer and their siblings. This summer, she will be returning to Sunrise Day Camp. All of us on both the Sunrise Shining Stars Team and the 2020 Pearl River Sunrise Staff team are so excited to once again be participating in SunriseWalks 2021 on October 17, to benefit Sunrise Day Camp-Pearl River. SunriseWALKS is one of many ways the camp raises money throughout the year.
Sunrise Day Camp is the only full summer day camp for children with cancer and their siblings. It is offered free of charge and is changing the lives of children battling cancer and their families. It gives children with cancer and their healthy siblings the opportunity to participate in a summer camp free of charge. Sunrise is truly a magical place for these children to enjoy a summer filled with fun, friendship, and activities. We on the Sunrise Shining Stars team and the 2020 Pearl River Sunrise Staff team all truly love sunrise and it is a special place that is dear to our hearts. Each child at camp means the world to Laurie. It is a joy to see their smiling faces and hearing the youngest of campers say that they want to come back on the first day. They have taught us to appreciate all that life has to offer each and every day, to see the beauty in life, and to keep our heads up. They are our true heroes and inspire us. Together, we can raise money to send more children to this amazing day camp and let them have the best summer of their lives.
