Fin-2021 Philadelphia Half Marathon
Hi! My name is Alina and I used to be a college student-athlete. For the past 18 years of my life, I've been a field hockey player but deep down, I've always loved running. I decided to give running a chance and signed up for my first half-marathon - the Philly Half on November 20th, 2021!
I wanted my first race experience to be special. A couple years ago, I lost my uncle to brain cancer. I wanted the cause I chose to run for to reflect how much my uncle loved medicine, research and helping others; and especially, I wanted to run for something that made other people as happy as running makes me feel.
I chose Sunrise Day Camp - Long Island, the world's first full-summer day camp for children with cancer and their siblings offered free of charge, in honor of my uncle and the love my boyfriend Jason has for his days spent working at the camp! Sunrise reminds me that there is such a strong community working to make these children's summers and lives better, every day - with teamwork and effort, just like my good old field hockey days.
Please join me in supporting this beautiful cause! My goal is to raise $6,000 - the cost to send one child to camp for the full summer.
