We are so excited to once again be the Honorary Chairs for the 2020 SunriseWALKS Event. We have truly been inspired by the work accomplished by the Sunrise Association over these last 6 months – and how their programs have pivoted during the pandemic to fit the emerging needs of the families they serve.
This summer, at their eight Sunrise Virtual Camps, 1769 children participated which was 90% of last year’s overall registration! Remarkably, throughout the eight weeks of camp, every child received a personalized Camp in a Box package which was filled with camp swag and supplies– everything the campers needed to fully participate. Additionally, in order to ensure that all families had access to Sunrise programming, 250 campers received free tablets as their families could not afford a device. Sunrise made sure that there were NO barriers that would prevent their campers from being part of this incredible camp experience.
Last year, the walk had 850+ walkers and volunteers and raised over $245,000. This success enabled them to bring back the joys of childhood, of playing and laughing together, for their Sunrise campers all at no charge to the families. Unfortunately, the current crisis has forced Sunrise to cancel all their in-person fundraising events, leaving them with a major loss in fundraising revenue. However, they have reimagined the SunriseWALKS event to be a virtual campaign & celebration. Everyone can make a difference no matter where they are! Whether you walk or not, please donate and join us at our home for brunch at 10am on October 18th so that we can together celebrate Sunrise (at a social distance).
We have created TEAM BENEROFE. Together, we hope to raise the critical funds needed to continue Sunrise programming all year-round. Our goal for 2020 is $20,200 - Please help us make this a reality for the children of Sunrise Day Camp!
We thank you in advance for supporting the Sunrise Association now, and always. Together we will make a difference and give childhood back to children with cancer!
