Meet our Camper Ambassadors, Nathan and Grace!

The Horizon Day Camp family has loved having Nate with us over the years, and just this past summer, we were able to welcome his younger sister, Gracie to join him at camp! They are both always full of smiles, giggles, sing the loudest and Round Up, and bring the HYPE!

Here is Nate's story, as told by his mother, Kait:

"Nate was diagnosed with unilateral retinoblastoma at 8 months old. I saw his tumor in his retina while playing on the floor with him. My maternal aunt had and passed away from retinoblastoma, which is how I even knew what I had seen.

Nate began his first of three rounds of intra-arterial chemo one week later. He’s now been cancer free six years this September! The tumor detached his retina entirely, so he is fully blind in his left eye, but still plays soccer and lacrosse as if he has full sight. He still has scans and invasive eye exams every six months, but he is simply the bravest, most incredible warrior we will ever know.

Sharon Perfetti and the Bosley family are who introduced us to Horizon. We walked with Conlan years ago, and then Nate attended camp the following summer when he was 3 and a half. We have been involved ever since, and it’s amazing to have Nate be able to talk to other kids about all they have gone through. And now to have his little sister attend alongside him has just made Horizon an even more special place for our family.

The love that Horizon staff and counselors have for our children is overwhelming, and we are just so lucky to be part of such a special community. We can never thank everyone enough for all they do for our warriors."

Nate's favorite camp memories: the playground, splashing in the pool, and having fun with his friends and counselors!
Grace LOVES the princesses at camp, and she can't wait to see them again at HorizonWALKS!
