Evin is one of Atlanta’s most respected Family Law attorneys and a founding partner of Hunter, Weinstein & Somerstein, L.L.C. With more than 20 years of experience, Evin advises clients in all areas of Family Law, with a focus on challenges to custody, support, and matters of extreme financial complexity. He is as comfortable in the conference room as he is in the courtroom and believes that a great trial attorney should be judged by the settlements he has been able to achieve for his clients. As a trained mediator and arbitrator, Evin successfully negotiates prenuptial and postnuptial agreements, marital settlements and parenting agreements. He is a seasoned advocate in child-custody, alimony and child-support issues as well. Considered one of the “pioneers” in the Atlanta Collaborative Law community, Evin has been instrumental in establishing and developing Collaborative Practice in the Atlanta legal community. Evin is a founding member of the Atlanta Collaborative Divorce Alliance, a closed network of elite practitioners in Collaborative Law. While his practice focuses solely on Family Law, approximately half of his cases choose to proceed Collaboratively, seeking to resolve their issues amicably while avoiding the need for Court intervention. Evin Somerstein is the author of numerous articles relating to family law and regularly serves as a guest speaker at Continuing Education Programs for fellow family law attorneys. He is a 1994 graduate of the University of Georgia School of Law, and received his undergraduate degree in Journalism from the University of Georgia in 1989. Evin enjoys spending time with his wife and two young children, plays golf whenever the opportunity arises, and shares his love of music through guitar.
Warren Binderman Chief Financial Officer at LifeBrite Labs
Warren is the Chief Financial Officer of the LifeBrite Companies which consist of LifeBrite Laboratories, LLC, LifeBrite Hospital Group, LLC, LifeBrite Hospital Group of Stokes, LLC, LifeBrite Hospital Group of Early, LLC, and LifeBrite Management, Inc. (together, “LifeBrite”). LifeBrite consists of (1) reference laboratories testing blood, urine and genetics, (2) hospitals, an entity wide company and (3) skilled nursing facilities. He serves on the Board of Directors and is Corporate Secretary/Treasurer of the Companies’ two hospitals and nursing homes. He has served in this capacity on a full-time basis since January 2017, and part-time since November 2014. In addition to LifeBrite, Warren served as the CEO, CFO and Board Member of Legend Oil and Gas, Ltd. (“Legend”), a public company that served the crude oil exploration and transportation areas. He served Legend from May 2014 through May 2017. Warren’s expertise includes finance and accounting, auditing in accordance with US GAAS, business management as a senior executive, including CEO and CFO, investment due diligence, mergers and acquisitions, private placement reviews, and restructuring services. He has demonstrated experience in various industry sectors and has worked with many publicly held companies, financial institutions, and closely held companies. Due to his experience working with public and private sector entities, he has an excellent depth of knowledge in both sectors.
Craig Cortright Managing Director at Ares Management
Mr. Cortright is a Managing Director in the Ares Credit Group, where he focuses on alternative credit investments. Additionally, he serves as a member of the Ares Credit Group’s Alternative Credit Investment Committee. Prior to joining Ares in 2019, Mr. Cortright was a Managing Director at Fortress Investment Group, where he focused on originating and structuring debt and equity investments in middle-market companies as well as making opportunistic investments in structured products and loan portfolios. Previously, Mr. Cortright was a Senior Associate at Atalaya Capital Management and an Associate at Navigant Capital Advisors. Mr. Cortright has also served as a visiting professor at Emory University’s Goizueta Business School. He holds a B.S. from University of Denver in Finance and an M.B.A. from the Goizueta Business School at Emory University.
Beth Friedman Community Leader
Beth Friedman is the mother of three boys, Jake 16, Zach 14, and Nate 13. She has been married to Jared Friedman, a Mohs surgeon at Marietta Dermatology & Skin Cancer Center, for almost 20 years. She earned her BA in psychology from Emory University, her teaching certificate from Mercer University and her Masters in school counseling from University of West Georgia. In addition to volunteering at the Davis Academy, the Weber school, ORT Atlanta and the AA Synagogue, she has an Atlanta-based matchmaking business called juLuv. She comes from a family of Camping professionals and she is passionate about the mission of Aurora Day camp!
Freida Gottsegen Founder at FG Consultant
Freida Gottsegen has been in the educational field for over thirty-five years in Louisiana, Florida and Georgia. As a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and a Masters of Education with certification in learning disabilities and behavior disorders, she has expertise in personal counseling as well as college counseling and the final college placement. Her experience spans both public and private schools. Ms. Gottsegen enjoys guiding students and assisting them in exploring their future choices. As an independent consultant, she provides a professional, confidential atmosphere where family interaction and student choice are merged with educational objectives. Ms. Gottsegen’s forte is that of successfully communicating with adolescents and understanding the family dynamic.
Pat Jordan President at Patric Jordan & Associates
Pat Jordan is President, Patric Jordan & Associates, a management consulting firm specializing in airline safety, operations, pilot training and fuel efficiency. Pat has a broad range of experience in aviation operations, quality systems and business development spanning his 40-year career in aviation. In addition to his own consulting practice, Pat is President, APUTRAC, LLC, providing state-of-the art technology solutions for tracking and managing auxiliary power unit (APU) resources for airlines and aviation companies. During his career at Delta Air Lines, he served in several leadership positions including General Manager, International Alliance Operations, General Manager, Finance and Administration, and Chief Pilot - Cincinnati. He retired from Delta as a Captain flying the Boeing 767 on Delta’s international routes. Pat has been actively engaged in non-profit community activities including Outward Bound, Leadership Atlanta and Aurora Day Camp.
Genille McElvey Technology Manager at State Farm Insurance Companies
Genille McElvey is an IT professional, with over 25+ years of leadership and technology experience in the financial services industry. She holds a B.S. in Business Administration and Marketing Management. In addition to her professional career, Genille is active in the non-profit community and has helped produce many successful fundraising events. She is actively engaged and contributes to various committees and has a devotedness to programs uplifting and empowering women and children. Genille has held volunteer leadership positions at several organizations; including The Drake House Board of Directors, since 2016. She is a 2019 graduate of The Atlanta Women’s Foundation - Inspire Atlanta Program and a 2018 graduate of the Leadership North Fulton Program. Genille enjoys spending time with her husband and two sons. Her hobbies include cooking, reading, and yoga.
Mike Nilan Co-Founder & CEO at TreeZero
Michael N. Nilan is the Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer of the most sustainable paper company on earth and on the Board of Directors for TreeZero since August 2009. His desire to create a world-class company that focused on products that are good for the environment and future generations has been a long-time desire for him. Mr. Nilan was involved in The Market Source International where he served as CEO. Prior to that, he founded One Coast Network and served as it’s Chairman along with being CEO of The Nilan Company. Mr. Nilan completed his Business Administration degree at Appalachian State University in 1974. His children are his motivation along with the strong entrepreneur spirit he has, which has led him to create this purposed driven company.
Carl Obradovich Partner, GI3 Global Investment & Innovation Incentives Services at Deloitte Tax LLP
Carl is a Partner at Deloitte, a global professional services firm. He first started helping Aurora Day Camp in 2018 during Deloitte’s Impact Day, their national day of volunteering. He grew up in the Chicago suburbs, graduated from Illinois State University, and received his MBA from DePaul University. He moved from Chicago to Atlanta with his wife, Amanda, in 2010. Carl enjoys coaching and watching his two sons (Jackson and Chase) and daughter (Taylor) play sports and compete in dance competitions.
Lisa Caraway Oliver, EdD, GC-C Principal at DrLisaOliver.com
A life transitions educator and certified grief counselor, Dr. Lisa Caraway Oliver educates individuals on life transitions and its residual effects: grief, mourning, and bereavement. Through this education, individuals are empowered to make informed decisions concerning advanced care plans and are guided towards comprehending their feelings, emotions, and actions that occur because of a loss. The passion for this work emanates from a desire to mitigate potential generational dysfunction that occurs when families postpone discussions on these inevitable topics. Dr. Oliver earned her Doctor of Education degree in adult education from the University of Georgia, where, within the framework of death and dying, emotion work, and informal learning, she researched the work of hospice care professionals. She earned her Master of Science degree in Instructional Technology from Georgia State University, and her Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from Howard University. Dr. Oliver earned her certification in grief counseling from the American Academy of Grief Counseling. Dr. Oliver facilitates, with fellow parishioner Sharyn M. Hailey, the Dying & Death Learning Series at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church and is a facilitator of Walking the Mourner’s Path, an eight-week, Christ-centered grief ministry. Prior to the Coronavirus pandemic, Dr. Oliver volunteered in the Emergency/Trauma Department at Grady Memorial Hospital, facilitated a monthly Death Cafe and a Life Transitions Education Series throughout the community via the Fulton County Library System and coordinated, with other like-minded parents and grandparents, a “Free Hugs” campaign at the Black Atlanta Pride Community Festival and the Atlanta Pride Parade. Dr. Oliver has a YouTube channel, Dr. Lisa Talks About... where she addresses topics such as What NOT say to Someone Whose Loved one has Died, and Why you Should Always go to the Funeral. She is also a blogger of the site DyingandDeathTalk.com and is a podcaster, with humorist Jerry Drye, of the podcast Dr. Death and the Humorist. Dr. Oliver has also published a book, Final Wishes: A Workbook for Planning a Funeral. A native of Atlantic City, New Jersey, Dr. Oliver resides in Atlanta, Georgia with her husband Jeff, their two adult children, two messy dogs, and one vocal cat, and a bearded dragon.
Gayle Siegel Branding Specialist at Jeckil Promotions
Gayle Siegel, a native of New Orleans, LA, has been a Branding Specialist at Jeckil Promotions, a specialty advertising firm, for more than 15 years. In additional to her professional career, she has also held volunteer leadership positions in various organizations, including The Blonder Family Department for Special Needs at the MJCCA, the Jewish Abilities Alliance, The Jewish Book Festival of the MJCCA, Jewish Women’s Connection Atlanta, the Camp Task Force of JFGA and Aurora Day Camp. She and her husband, Harris Siegel, a native of Atlanta, have three grown girls.
Stacy Sutton Chief Marketing Officer at Rule 1 Ventures
Stacy Sutton is a lifelong marketer, connector of people, and passionate do-gooder. Her 30+ year career in marketing has ranged from owning a digital agency to leading marketing for tech startups. Stacy is also an active volunteer with organizations ranging from humanitarian (Atlanta Women’s Foundation, Honduras Agalta Valley Education Foundation, Year Up) to business (Conscious Capitalism Atlanta, 48in48) to political (Vote Forward). Stacy holds a bachelor’s degree in Business from the University of California at Berkeley and a master’s degree in Communications Management from the University of Southern California. She is the proud mother of two fantastic adult daughters.
Brooks Suttle Labor and Employment Attorney at Alston & Bird LLP
Brooks is a labor and employment law attorney with Alston & Bird LLP, where his practice involves virtually all aspects of employment counseling and litigation. From legal compliance in the hiring process to drafting employment and independent contractor agreements, to enforcing restrictive covenants, managing investigations, and litigating whistleblower, discrimination and wage-and-hour claims and class-actions, Brooks advises and defends employers on a wide variety of employment-related matters in arbitration, administrative proceedings, and state and federal courts nationwide. Brooks was born in Atlanta, but grew up in southern California before heading east to Philadelphia where he earned a bachelor’s degree in intellectual history from the University of Pennsylvania. When his father died of cancer shortly after graduation, Brooks attempted to move back to California but was inadvertently waylaid for several years on the small farm outside Birmingham, Alabama, where his dad grew up. While there, Brooks worked in the restaurant industry (where he met his future wife), started a photography business, taught for Kaplan and pursued a master’s degree in Integral Theory before ultimately deciding to move back to Atlanta to attend Emory Law School and start a family. Brooks now lives in Smyrna with his wife, Mollie, and their two daughters, ages 5 and 9.
James Taylor Managing Partner at Atlanta Pro AV
James is the owner of Atlanta Pro AV (APAV). Using his background as a professional touring musician, he developed an audio visual company that specializes in live production, integration, and design for corporate clients. James is active in the non-profit community and helps produce numerous nonprofit galas and fundraisers.
