Hi everyone! I hope you have all been doing well amidst the uncertain state that our world is currently in.
I wanted to bring to your attention, a cause that is very dear to me. For the past three summers, I have had the honor of working at Aurora Day Camp- a camp for kids with cancer and their siblings, free of charge. It has been one of the greatest experiences of my life, and it has been such an honor to be part of an organization that works towards bringing joy and the magic of summer camp into the lives of these sweet children and their families.
When COVID-19 hit, the fight against cancer did not end for these kids. It did not end for their families. Similar to many of you, when schools, workplaces, and life as we knew it began to end and started shutting down, we also got the news that we would not have camp this summer. But, that did not stop our incredible, hardworking team at Aurora. Just a few weeks later, our incredible director and staff began working on a version of camp that would still provide comfort and joy to these families, but through a VIRTUAL aspect!
I am so happy and proud to say that last Friday, officially marked the end of our 2020 camp season and we have successfully held 7 weeks of virtual camp for nearly 150 individual campers. If you have a moment, please consider taking a look at the video below which highlights some of our favorite moments from this summer: https://vimeo.com/438602164
Aurora brings happiness to so many children and families, and since we are a non-profit organization, we could definitely use your help to ensure that we are able to continue camp, for many years to come.
If you feel called to donate any amount, please consider doing with this fundraiser that will go straight to my donation page for Aurora Walks 2020 which is being held virtually on September 13, 2020.
