Thank you for visiting my walk page! I am so excited to help my dear friend Maria Myler as a walker on her team, Maria’s Clan Spreads Smiles, in AuroraWALKS, a virtual campaign to raise awareness and much needed funds for Aurora Day Camp.
Aurora Day Camp is Georgia’s only full summer day camp for children with cancer and their siblings, ages 3 1⁄2 –16 who are in active or follow-up treatment for cancer, all free of charge. Aurora gives families normalcy, hope, relief and a unique opportunity for patients and siblings to be together. Camp is not about cancer, simply fun and children being children.
Aurora Day Camp is a proud member of the Sunrise Association whose mission is to bring back the joys of childhood to children with cancer and their siblings world-wide, with full summer Day Camps, year-round programs and in-hospital recreational activities, serving over 6,000 children last year, all free of charge.
As a new mom to twin girls, I am incredibly grateful for their health. Childhood cancer is something I pray I never have to battle, but I am grateful to know that Aurora Day Camp is there for the families that do. When I visited camp last summer, I was blown away by the love, hope, and joy being spread through all these remarkable families. So I am honored to be able to help Maria, who has helped me raise funds for Lupus for so long.
My personal goal is $1000. While we cannot host AuroraWALKS in person due to COVID, Maria’s Clan across the globe and I are committed to this effort. Every dollar counts. With your help, we can reach our team goal and raise $125,000 to help hundreds of families impacted by pediatric cancer.
This summer, Aurora accomplished something extraordinary by transitioning to a summer long virtual camp that provided endless fun for nearly 150 campers who enjoyed activities with their friends and counselors. Take a moment to watch this powerful video below.
While COVID -19 has wreaked havoc on the world we live in, these very special children need us now more than ever. Thanks so much for helping us bring joy to these precious children.
We appreciate you!
